The primary roles and services provided by the Coimbatore Regional Transport Office include:
RTO Coimbatore manages all aspects related to motor vehicle registration, such as issuing and renewing vehicle RC, transfer of vehicle ownership, updating registration details, removal of hypothecation, and conducting fitness checks for vehicles.
Collecting motor vehicle taxes, commonly known as road tax, in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988.
RTO Coimbatore provides comprehensive services related to driving licences, such as issuing a learner's license and conducting driving tests before issuing a permanent DL. The steps to obtain a driver's license in Coimbatore are as follows:
Step 1: Visit the mParivahan portal.
Step 2: Select "Online Services" > "Driver License Related Services".
Step 3: Choose "Tamil Nadu" from the drop-down menu. Select the RTO as “Coimbatore”.
Step 4: Proceed to "Apply Online" > "New Driving License".
Step 5: Fill in the application form online and upload the necessary documents.
Step 6: Submit the application online.
Step 7: Print out the application form and acknowledgement.
Step 8: Schedule a driving test slot and pay the application fees online.
