The State of Maharashtra has a population of over 11 crores with over 35 lakh registered motor vehicles in the State. To govern, manage and regulate the growing and existing motor vehicle volume and safety measures, the regional transport authority has set 51 RTO Maharashtra to carry out the transport-associated activities of the State.
To expand and enhance performance, RTO Maharashtra also caters to citizen needs through transport.maharashtra.gov.in, which is the official regional RTO portal.

The government prohibits the usage of unregistered vehicles in the state. Regardless of whether the motor vehicle is registered in another Indian state, it must be registered in Maharashtra before it can be driven on the road.
The vehicle can be registered immediately through the dealer by including the registration information on their trade certificate.
