Role of RTO Bihar

Services Offered at BR RTO

The major services provided by RTO Bihar are as follows:

  • It provides permanent and temporary registration certificates, trade certificates, driving licenses, commercial licenses, renewal and duplicate registration copies, ownership transfer, NOC, etc.
  • It is in charge of executing road safety projects and initiatives, supervising the provision and maintenance of traffic amenities such as traffic signs, reducing vehicle pollution, and directing traffic during key events.
  • It oversees auto rickshaws, prepaid taxis, the International Driving Permit (IDP), and interstate and national commercial vehicle permits.
  • It is responsible for collecting motor vehicle and road tax.
  • It is also responsible for inspecting automobiles for mechanical fitness and pollutants to guarantee that pollution is under control and the vehicle is not negatively impacting the environment.

Registration of Vehicle in RTO Bihar

The Bihar RTA is in charge of the automobile registration procedure in the state. Vehicle owners must register their vehicles with the state’s RTO under the Act of Motor Vehicles Act to legally operate a vehicle in the region.

Bihar vehicle registration is divided into two types: Temporary and Permanent.

  • Temporary Registration

It is only valid for a limited time. The registration can be obtained from the vehicle's dealer in this case. Provide the required documents to the dealer, and they will issue you a temporary number via point registration. It will then be submitted to the RTO.

  • Permanent Registration

Documents Required for a Motor Vehicle Registration with the Regional Transport Office of Bihar

Application for a Driver's License Online in Bihar

Here are the steps to apply for a DL in RTO Bihar online-

  • Step 1: Visit parivahan.gov.in/parivahan.
  • Step 2: Select 'Driving License Related Services' from the 'Online Services menu.
  • Step 3: While selecting your state's name, choose Bihar.
  • Step 4: Click ‘Apply Online’, then choose a new driver's license.
  • Step 5: Select the state and transaction, then hit the continue button.
  • Step 6: Enter your learner's permit number and date of birth.
  • Step 7: Fill out the form, then upload your documents online.
  • Step 8: Pay the fees.
  • Step 9: A unique online application number will be assigned.
  • Step 10: Next, visit the nearest RTO and submit the original paperwork.
  • Step 11: Show the RTO official your application number to schedule a slot for your driving test.
  • Step 12: Attend the driving test.

Once you are approved, you will receive your DL within 3 - 4 weeks.
