How to Add Money to US Stocks on Groww with HDFC Bank: A Step-by-Step Guide

Adding money to your US Stocks balance on Groww is an important step before you can start investing in US stocks and ETFs. When you add money to your US Stocks balance on Groww, you may be redirected to your bank's secure page to verify the payment. For HDFC Bank customers, this is a part of the process to authenticate the transaction.

What Do You Need Before You Start?

Keep these handy so the process takes just a few minutes:

➡️ Your phone, with the mobile number linked to your HDFC Bank account, to receive OTPs.

➡️ Your HDFC Bank Customer ID and net banking password, if you choose to verify with net banking.

➡️ Your HDFC debit card, if you choose to verify with your card. You'll need the last 4 digits, expiry date and PIN.

How to Add Money to US Stocks Using HDFC Bank?

Step 1: Start on Groww

• Open the Groww app and go to your "Profile Section".
• Tap "Add money" next to your US Stocks balance.
  

  

• Enter the amount you want to add. Your HDFC Bank account will show under "Net Banking (Remittance)". Tap "Add money". 
  

  

• On the "Confirm Bank Details" screen, check your HDFC Bank account number and Customer ID. Read the HDFC Bank Foreign Outward Remittance Terms and Conditions, tick the consent box and tap "Continue".
  

  

• Enter the OTP sent to the mobile number linked to your bank account and tap "Proceed now".

Step 2: Verify Yourself on the HDFC Bank Page

Next, you'll land on a secure HDFC Bank page called "Verify Yourself". Don't worry, this step is for extra security only. No money is debited from your account or card here.

Keep an eye on the timer at the top of the page. You have about 5 minutes to finish this step before the page expires.

Choose how you'd like to confirm your identity, then tap "Continue":

• Net Banking, which needs your password.
• Debit Card, which needs your last 4 digits, expiry date and PIN.

Option A: Verify with Net Banking

• Enter your Customer ID, tick the Terms & Conditions box and tap "Login to Verify".
  

  

• On the "Verify with NetBanking" page, enter your net banking password and tap "Verify".
  

  

• Enter the OTP sent by HDFC Bank to your registered mobile number.
• Review the details and confirm your payment.
• You'll be taken back to Groww, where you can see your payment status.

Option B: Verify with Debit Card

• Enter the last 4 digits of your debit card, its expiry date and your PIN. Tick the Terms & Conditions box and tap "Verify".
  

  

• Enter the OTP sent by HDFC Bank to your registered mobile number.
• Review the details and confirm your payment.
• You'll be taken back to Groww, where you can see your payment status.

What Happens After You Pay?

Back on Groww, the "USD deposit status" page shows whether your payment went through, along with a timeline and the amount and bank account used. You can also copy your transaction ID from here if you need it later.

You'll also get a confirmation email, whether your payment succeeded or failed. If a payment fails, for example because you didn't complete the journey, you can go back to Add money and try again.
