  • Year 1981 - Infosys was established by Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy along with a team of 6 engineers in Pune with a seed capital of US$250. It signed up its first client in the same year, named Data Basics Corporation
  • Year 1983 - The Company’s headquarters was moved to Bengaluru.
  • Year 1987 - It established its first-ever international office in Boston, United States.
  • Year 1993 - It introduced ESOPs program, acquired ISO9001/TickIT Certification and finally went Public.
  • Year 1994 - It moved its corporate headquarters to Electronic City, Bangalore and opened a Development Centre at Fremont.
  • Year 1996 - The Infosys Foundation was established.
  • Year 1997 - The company was assessed at CMM Level 4.
  • Year 1998 - Started Enterprise Solutions practice
  • Year 1999 -
    - Infosys touched US$100 million in revenue. The company also listed on NASDAQ.
    - The company became the 21st one across the world to bag a CMM Level 5 Certification.
    - Infosys Business Consulting Services was launched
  • Year 2000 - It touched US$200 million in revenue. It opened offices in France, Hongkong and a Global Development Centre in Canada and the UK, and also 3 Development centres in the US.
  • Year 2002 - It touched US$400 million in revenue. This year, Infosys was rated as the Best Employer by Business World/Hewwit.
  • Year 2004 - The company touched an annual revenue of over US$1 billion. It also launched Infosys Consulting in the same year.
  • Year 2005 - It recorded the largest equity offering, US$1 billion, from India. In the same year, Infosys was selected for the Global MAKE Hall of Fame.
  • Year 2006 - Infosys company completed its 25 years and also crossed the mark of US$2 billion in annual revenue. In this year, Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy retired from his service. The Board of Directors appointed him as an Additional Director. Currently, he continues to be the Chairman and Chief Mentor of the company.
  • Year 2007 - Mr Kris Gopalakrishnan (COO) took over the position of CEO. Also, Mr Nandan Nilekani was appointed as the Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors this year.
  • Year 2009 - The company was selected as a member of the Global Dow.
  • Year 2011 - Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy handed over the chairmanship to Mr K.V. Kamath. The same year, S.D. Shibulal, COO, took over as the CEO and MD from Kris Gopalakrishnan.
  • Year 2012 - Infosys got listed on the NYSE market. It also got ranked among the top 25 performing companies in the Caring for Climate Initiative.
  • Year 2013 - The Board appointed N. R. Narayana Murthy as Executive Chairman this year. In the same period, Infosys began trading on the NYSE Euronext London and Paris markets.
  • Year 2014 - Dr Vishal Sikka took over as the CEO and MD from S.D. Shibulal. In this year, the Board decided to raise the dividend payout ratio to up to 40% of post-tax profits.
  • Year 2015 - The Board decided to raise the dividend payout ratio to up to 50% of post-tax profits. In the same year, the company acquired Skava and Panaya.
  • Year 2016 - The company launched Infosys Mana (part of Infosys Nia now) and Skava Commerce.
  • Year 2017 - It completed its equity share buyback of Rs 13,000 crores, which amounted to 4.92% of total outstanding equity shares. This year also marked the appointment of Mr Salil Parekh as CEO and MD.
  • Year 2018 - It completed 25 years of listing on the Indian Stock exchanges.
  • Year 2019 - Infosys ranked Number 3 on Forbes ‘World’s Best Regarded Companies’ list.
  • Year 2021 - Infosys crossed Rs 100,000 crore in revenue. It also was recognised as a Global Top Employer 2021 by the Top Employers Institute. The company launched Infosys Cortex, a Cloud-first customer engagement platform.
  • Year 2022 - It was recognised as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere. It also acquired BASE life science and Digital Experience and Marketing Agency, Oddity.
