On the first day of the new financial year, Indian benchmark indices are set to open lower as US President Donald Trump has said that the next round of reciprocal tariffs (set to kick off from April 2) for everyone, that is “all countries” include India as well, throwing cold water on any hopes of a relief for the country. GIFT Nifty futures were down 176 points or 0.78% at 22,462 at 7:33 AM. On Friday, during the previous session, the 30-share Sensex fell 191.51 points (0.25%) to end at 77,414.92, and the NSE Nifty50 too closed in the red at 23,519.35, down 72.60 points (0.31%).

Key Stocks in Focus

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced the Indian government's approval to convert the dues to the government into equity. Shares worth ₹36,950 crore are being issued to the government at ₹10 per share under this initiative, leading to an increased government stake in the company. Citi analysts see it as a "significant" and "timely" ease that is expected to deliver "meaningful" cash flow relief to the telecom operator over the next three years and help to wrap up protracted fundraising with banks.

Adani Energy Solutions(ADES), a prominent player in the energy sector, has successfully acquired Mahan Transmission, taking complete control of the Special Purpose Vehicle(SPV) by acquiring it through a share purchase agreement. Technology conglomerate HCLTech has been chosen as Design Solution Partner under Samsung’s Advanced Foundry Ecosystem (SAFE) programme, another initiative to drive innovation in semiconductor technology.

Asian Paints also has ongoing expansion plans; its ₹3,250 crore chemical plant in Gujarat is an example. 

JSW Steel has successfully bid for the Dugda Coal Washery in Jharkhand, with the operational deal set to last 25 years, potentially improving cost efficiency and the supply of raw materials. 

Force Motors was the lowest bidder (L1) for a tender for supplying 2,978 Force Gurkha light vehicles to the Indian Defence Forces.

LTIMindtree signed a partnership with Google Cloud to harness AgenticAI for business transformation. 

In the construction space, NCC has announced new orders worth ₹5,773 crore in March 2025. 

DCM Shriram commissioned a second 300 TPD flexi-fuel flaker plant in Gujarat to further enhance its production capabilities. 

Newgen Software Technologies' US subsidiary has signed a $1.27 million deal with a global customer.

State-owned Engineers India has got ₹245 crore legal consultancy contracts from public sector companies for projects in Maharashtra and West Bengal. 

Kavach Railway Safety System: HBL Engineering received letters of acceptance worth ₹762.56 crore. 

Sun Pharma Advanced Research has filed the Investigational New Drug (IND) application with the US FDA.

Other Key Highlights:

HAL has a provisional and unaudited revenue of ₹30,400 crore for the financial year ending March 31, 2025 and has signed major defence contracts valued at ₹62,700 crore.

The board of Aditya Birla Real Estate has approved the takeover of the pulp and paper business unit by ITC for ₹3,498 crore. Aditya Birla Finance has announced the completion of its merger with Aditya Birla Capital.

Bosch was served an Income Tax notice of more than ₹20 crore.

Yes Bank: A demand notice of ₹2,209 crore was issued to Yes Bank.

AU Small Finance Bank has raised ₹770 crore by issuing Tier-II bonds.
