What is Groww MCP?

Powered by Groww APIs, Groww MCP is your shortcut to connecting your Groww profile to your favourite AI assistant (Claude, Cursor or VS code) and make sense of the stock market, transforming what used to take hours of research into insights available with a single click. 

Think of it as giving your AI assistant a pair of glasses to see your specific investments/trades on Groww – not just the market in general.

What You Can Do With Groww MCP?

Portfolio Intelligence

• "Show me my top 5 performing stocks this quarter"
• "What percentage of my portfolio is in large-cap stocks?"
• “Based on my holdings can you suggest an appropriate benchmark?"

F&O Analysis

• "Nifty has given a breakout at 1:35pm today but it failed, analyse why?"
• "Show me positions expiring this week with current P&L"
• "Look at daily candles in Nifty 50 chart over last 2 months and tell me what candle might form tomorrow"

Smart Order Management

Note: The current version supports stocks and F&O, especially good for open ended technical analysis. Fundamental analysis, Mutual funds, IPOs, bonds, etc. will be added.

To start using Groww MCP, here’s what you’ll need:

• Claude Pro subscription or access to tools like Cursor, Windsurf, etc.
• DDPI authorisation to place sell orders for your demat account using MCP.

• A little patience — this is very early-stage tech, and occasional hiccups may happen as the ecosystem evolves.

How to Get Started with Groww MCP?

If you have Claude Pro

1. Open https://claude.ai/settings/connectors
   

   

2. Click on add custom connector (Only Claude Pro users will be able see this feature for now) and enter Name=GrowwMCP and URL= https://mcp.groww.in/mcp 
   

   

3. In front of GrowwMCP, click on Connect button.
   

   

4. Allow Claude to securely access your Groww account.
   

   

5. Open a new chat and try asking: “Analyze my Groww portfolio"
   

   

   

If you have Cursor / VS Code

Step 1: Prerequisites

• Download and install from https://nodejs.org/dist/v22.17.1/node-v22.17.1.pkg
• Open Command Prompt or Terminal and run node --version to verify the installation.

Step 2: Create Configuration File

• Press Cmd + Shift + P → "Cursor Settings" → "Tools and Integrations" → "Add Custom MCP".
• This opens the mcp.json file directly.
  

  

  

Step 3: Add Configuration

• Copy-Paste this content into mcp.json file:

Step 4: Save and Authenticate

• Save the file
• Cursor will show a login prompt
• Click the browser link to authenticate with Groww
• Return to Cursor after successful authentication
  

  

Step 5: Use Trading Features

• Open Cursor chat in Agent mode
  

  

• Ask questions related to your portfolio/positions on groww or market research in general.
• The tool will handle MCP calls automatically.

Step 6: Recommended Model

Use Claude-4-Sonnet for best results with this integration.
