The Sensex closed marginally higher today, while the Nifty ended flat, as gains in the heavyweight financial and auto stocks led to losses. The NSE Nifty was down 0.03% and 5.80 points at 22,547.55 when the market closed today. The BSE Sensex, however, closed at a nominally higher position at 74,602.12 as it moved up by 147.71 points or 0.20%.
The Indian equity indices ended on a flat note in the volatile session today, on 25th February 2025. Most of the market ended in red with the Nifty Midcap 100 index closing 0.62 percent lower and the Nifty Smallcap 100 Index going down by 0.44%.
The Sectoral indices also faced downturn as 11 out of 19 indices closed in red. The Nifty Auto was the top performing sectoral index, up by 0.89 per cent at 21,743.90. Other indices such as Nifty Metal dropped by 1.54%, Nifty PSU Bank down by 1.22%, Nifty Retail by 1.31% and Oil & Gas by 1.13% as the market closed for the day.
