Rupee drops 51 paise to ₹87.23 Against US Dollar Amid Uncertainties– Market Update

The Indian rupee plummeted 51 paise to ₹87.23 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. This depreciation came against a backdrop of a strengthening US dollar due to demand from importers amid the uncertainties looming around the US trade tariffs,

Continued Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) outflows also played a role in the fall of the Indian rupee.

Factors influencing the Rupee’s Performance

  • Global Oil Benchmark: Brent crude was dropped 0.51 per cent lower at $71.69 per barrel in futures trade.
  • Dollar Index: The dollar index, which shows the strength of the greenback, rose 0.04 per cent to 106.64.
  • FII Flows: FIIs accounted for up to ₹6,286.70 crore worth of equities offloaded in the previous session according to the exchange data.
