Hello Traders,
If you have traded commodity options like Gold Mini or Silver Mini, then you have most likely faced this situation:
You open the option chain, scroll through multiple strikes, and spot a price that looks attractive.
But when you try to trade, there is little to no liquidity.
No buyers, no sellers, or a spread so wide that execution becomes impractical.
This is a common pain point in commodity options. Unlike equities, liquidity is often concentrated in a few strikes, while the rest of the chain is filled with contracts that appear active but are not truly tradable.
The result?
Cluttered screens, misleading signals, and sometimes, frustrating trading decisions.
To solve this problem, we have introduced Option Chain Illiquidity Handling in commodities.
With the new “Illiquid Strikes” toggle in the option chain settings, you can now hide non-tradable or barely traded contracts, so you only see strikes that actually matter.
Once you turn off the toggle, the option chain instantly hides contracts with very low or no buyer-seller activity. The toggle works as a show/hide.

Let's say you are analysing Gold options.

The Illiquid Strikes Handling feature is now live for commodity option chains.
Next time you open any commodity contract, try switching it OFF the toggle, and you will immediately notice the difference.
At Groww, we are constantly working to simplify complex markets. With illiquid strikes out of the way, you can focus on what really matters and make better trades.
Give it a try today.
