Indian share markets are expected to start the trading day on a subdued note this Monday, May 19, 2025. Market players seem to be waiting for new triggers before taking meaningful directional action. Until 7:50 AM, the GIFT Nifty was at 25,063, lower by 16 points, which reflects a guarded opening.

Global sentiment seems weak. Asian markets were generally on the backfoot. Japan's Nikkei fell 0.54%, South Korea's Kospi by 1%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng by 0.45%, and Australia's ASX200 by 0.02%. Key economic indicators are also being watched by investors, such as China's April readings on housing prices and industrial output, due to be published today.
