Simpler MTF Interest Tracking: Monthly Postings

October 6, 2025 12:45 PM

We're making it easier to track your Margin Trading Facility (MTF) interest charges.

What's changing?

Earlier: Interest charges appeared daily in your "All Transactions" ledger for every open MTF position.

Now: You'll see a single monthly summary instead of daily entries.

Why this change?

We heard your feedback. Daily interest postings were:

  • Creating confusion about the actual interest amount
  • Cluttering your transaction history
  • Triggering unnecessary daily margin alerts

With monthly postings, you get a cleaner view of your MTF costs while maintaining complete transparency.

How does this work?

Interest calculation

Nothing changes here. Interest continues to be calculated daily based on your outstanding MTF amount, ensuring accuracy.

Monthly summary

On the last day of each month, you'll see a single entry in "All Transactions":

  • Description: "MTF Interest for [Month-Year]"
  • Amount: Total interest accrued during the previous month

Position closure

If you close your MTF position mid-month:

  • Interest for the closed portion is posted immediately
  • Description: "MTF Interest till [Date] for sold positions"
  • You'll still receive a monthly summary for any remaining open positions

Example

Let's say you take an MTF position on 1 March and hold it throughout March:

  • Old experience: 31 separate interest entries (one per day)
  • New experience: 1 summary entry on 31st March showing total March interest

If you close your position on March 15th:

  • You'll see an immediate posting for interest from March 1st to 15th
  • No additional March entries if the position is fully closed

This change is being rolled out to all MTF users. No action is needed from your side.
