An MTF calculator estimates the amount you need to pay upfront and how much Groww funds when you buy stocks using the Margin Trading Facility (MTF).
You (trader) pay a part of the order value, as low as 25% upfront (up to 4x leverage; depending on order value), and the broker (Groww) funds the rest. The calculator also shows interest and charges for your holding period, plus the breakeven price and buying power vs delivery.
Example: You buy 1 share of Jio Platforms at ₹1,362 and hold for 7 days.
The trade value is ₹1,362. At a 30% margin, you put in ₹409 and Groww funds ₹953. With order charges of ₹3.22 (incl. GST), you pay ₹412.22 upfront. Interest is ₹953 × 0.041% = ₹0.39 per day, or ₹3.23 for 7 days (incl. GST). The stock must close above ₹1,371.47 for you to make a profit, a rise of about 0.70%.
Leverage amplifies losses as well as gains!
