About Hindustan Fluoro
Hindustan Fluorocarbons Limited (HFL) was established in 1983 as a Government of India enterprise and a subsidiary of Hindustan Organic Chemicals Limited. Following a government directive, all production activities of the company were officially shut down and completed as of March 31, 2021. The company's management philosophy centers on conducting its affairs transparently within the framework of policies and guidelines set by the Government of India. Its primary business was manufacturing the refrigerant gas HCFC-22, which was then used for conversion into Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a specialized plastic. This business became financially unviable due to the plant's uneconomical capacity and reliance on old technology, leading to the decision for closure. To manage this shutdown, the company has utilized an interest-free loan from the government, which totaled ₹75.87 crores, to settle various liabilities.;
