The validity of a GTT (Good Till Triggered) order depends on the asset type:
1. GTT Orders for Stocks
- Validity Period: GTT orders for stocks are valid for up to one year from the placement date.
- Execution: The order is executed automatically if the market price hits the trigger price within the one-year period.
- Expiration: If the trigger price is not reached within one year, the GTT order expires.
2. GTT Orders for Futures & Options (F&O) Contracts
- Validity Period: GTT orders for F&O contracts remain active only until the contract’s expiration date.
- Example: If you place a GTT order on an F&O contract expiring on 25th May 2024, it will expire on that date if the trigger condition is unmet.
- Unlike stock GTT orders, F&O GTT orders do not last for a year.
