Adani Green Energy Ltd. saw its share price rise significantly on Tuesday, 15th April 2025, after it announced its operational performance figures for the year 2025. The shares of the renewable energy firm rose up to 3.5% in intraday trade after it announced a 30% rise in its operational capacity to 14.2 GW from the last fiscal year.
As per the provisional operational progress of the company in FY25, this remarkable expansion in operating capacity to 14,243 MW was mainly driven by greenfield additions worth 3,309 MW. This growth included commissioning 2,710 MW of solar projects in some major Indian states, with strong contributions from Gujarat's Khavda (1,460 MW), Rajasthan (1,000 MW), and Andhra Pradesh (250 MW). In addition, Adani Green Energy successfully commissioned 599 MW of wind power capacity, entirely at its Khavda facility. The company also announced that it intended to add another 1 GW, which could take its overall operational capacity to 15.2 GW.
This strong growth in operating capacity directly resulted in an increase of 28% in energy sales, totaling 27,969 million units against last year. Looking at a five-year horizon, Adani Green Energy pointed out a 45% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) in power generation during the previous five years based on a growing share of merchant power and improvement in performance from its asset portfolio.
A review of the portfolio performance of the company indicates a capacity utilisation factor (CUF) of 24.8% for its solar portfolio, with a high plant availability of 99.5%. Significantly, the Khavda solar project registered a CUF of 32.4% in Q4 FY25, reflecting a trend towards stabilised operational levels. The wind and hybrid portfolios also registered strong performance, with CUFs of 27.2% and 39.5% respectively, underpinned by plant availabilities of 95.9% and 99.6%.
The upbeat operating update spurred a positive market reaction. Adani Green Energy shares gained 3.46% to an intraday high of ₹ 924.7 per share on the BSE on Tuesday. Mid-morning, the stock was up 2.95% at ₹ 920.05 per share on the BSE. This market response indicates investor sentiment around the company's growth path in the renewable energy segment.
