Strengths & Financials of Connplex Cinemas

Strengths
Risks
Connplex Cinemas claims to have invested in advanced technologies such as Dolby Atmos sound systems and 2K projectors to enhance audio-visual clarity across its theatres. The company’s cinema halls are equipped with recliner seating and immersive sound systems, which it claims help deliver a premium viewing experience.
The company operates a structured franchise model across franchise-owned, franchise-operated (FOFO), and franchise-owned, company-operated (FOCO ) formats. As of FY25, Connplex Cinemas had 66 franchise-operated screens, up from 49 in FY24 and 24 in FY23. The company claims its quick setup process and modular cinema designs contribute to faster rollouts and operational efficiency.
Connplex Cinemas generates revenue from multiple sources, including film screenings, food and beverage sales, cinema construction, advertising, and private event bookings. It claims to offer region-specific food and beverage (F&B) menus and also provides advertising space within its cinema premises, which contributes to non-ticket income.
The company has focused on expanding into Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 cities, where competition from larger multiplex chains is limited. Connplex Cinemas claims this has allowed it to establish an early presence in underserved markets with high demand and low supply of entertainment infrastructure.
Connplex Cinemas has developed multiple cinema formats to serve different customer segments. As of FY25, it operated 22 express model screens, 28 signature model screens, and 16 luxuriance model screens. The company claims these format variations allow it to optimise for space, audience expectations, and pricing strategies across diverse locations.
The company has reported a consistent increase in revenue from operations and profit after tax (PAT). Revenue from operations increased from Rs 25.37 crore in FY23 to Rs 60.30 crore in FY24 and Rs 95.61 crore in FY25. PAT increased from Rs 1.65 crore in FY23 to Rs 4.09 crore in FY24 and Rs 19.01 crore in FY25.
A significant portion of Connplex Cinemas’ revenue is dependent on consistent audience turnout across its theatres. Any adverse change in audience behaviour due to economic conditions, market preferences, or competition from home entertainment platforms can reduce footfall, impacting ticket sales and related revenue streams such as food and beverages. Furthermore, prolonged periods of low attendance can increase per-capita operational costs and negatively affect the company’s overall profitability.
The top 10 suppliers accounted for 39.19 percent, 56.02 percent, and 71.56 percent of the company’s total purchases in FY25, FY24, and FY23, respectively. Any disruption in supplies from one or more of these suppliers could adversely affect the company’s business and finances.
Connplex Cinemas faces increasing competition from home entertainment platforms and other digital content services. Any adverse shift in consumer preferences toward at-home viewing can reduce cinema attendance, affecting ticket sales, concessions, and overall revenue of the company.
The company is involved in certain ongoing tax-related legal proceedings. Any adverse judgments in any of these cases could be detrimental to the company’s business prospects.
The company reported negative cash flow from investing activities amounting to Rs 4.61 crore in FY25, Rs 4.39 crore in FY24, and Rs 6.16 crore in FY23. Additionally, negative cash flow from financing activities amounted to Rs 0.11 crore in FY24. If cash outflows continue to exceed inflows in the future, the company may face liquidity challenges.
A significant portion of Connplex Cinemas’ revenue is derived from advertising partnerships within its cinema network. Any failure to maintain existing advertiser relationships or establish new ones may adversely affect the company’s ability to generate advertising income.
Connplex Cinemas’ operations are subject to seasonal variations, with higher footfall during holidays and major film releases, and reduced attendance during off-peak periods. Any inability to address this fluctuation in demand could adversely affect its business and financial condition.
