What is STT?

STT stands for Securities Transaction Tax, and CTT stands for Commodities Transaction Tax. These are government taxes applied when you trade on the exchanges.
  • Equity Delivery (buy & sell): 0.1% of the order amount
  • Equity Intraday (only sell): 0.025% of the order amount
  • Equity Futures (only sell): 0.05%
  • Equity Options (only sell): 0.15% on premium
  • Commodity Futures (only sell): 0.01%
  • Commodity Options (only sell): 0.05% on premium
Securities Transaction Tax (STT) does not apply to GOLD ETFs, LIQUID and Gilt ETFs, and some international ETFs. However, STT is levied on other ETFs as follows:
  • Other ETFs Delivery and BTST (only sell): 0.001% (₹1 per lakh)
  • Other ETFs Intraday (only sell): 0.025% (₹25 per lakh)
