What about tax on dividends?

If you receive a dividend, your tax liability in the US would be 25% (lower than foreign investors from other countries due to the tax treaty between the US and India), and it will be deducted at the source. This tax will be deducted before you receive your dividend, which means that you will receive 75% of the dividend amount as cash payout in your brokerage account.

The good news is that you will receive foreign tax credits for US tax, which you can use against your tax liability in India.
