What are the tax implications for US stocks?

Due to the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) between India and the US, there is no tax on capital gains deducted in the US for Indian residents. In India, however, you need to pay capital gains tax for the long-term profits (above 24 months) and short-term profits (below 24 months) earned on your US stocks investments.
