What is RTO Form 35?

Form 35 RTO is an official document used in India to notify the Regional Transport Office (RTO) about the termination of a hire-purchase, lease, or hypothecation agreement for a vehicle. This essentially means informing the authorities that the loan on the vehicle has been paid off and the ownership has been transferred back to the original owner.

Who Should File Form 35?

Both the parties, including the vehicle owner and the financier who have previously executed the hypothecation/lease/purchase-vehicle hire agreement, should fill out the RTO Form 35. This is required to end the agreement by mutual consent.

It is important to remember that only the vehicle owner can apply for a new entry in the Vehicle Registration Certificate. Updating the vehicle's registration with the termination information ensures the RTO has accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring the original owner has full legal ownership and can freely sell or transfer the vehicle.
