The RTO Lakshadweep was established in the year 1990, and it was incorporated to undertake the guidelines of the Motor Vehicle Act. It functions various regulatory and enforcement functions from the Act. Therefore, it implements the safety of roads; issues license registers for motor vehicles and much more. To establish ownership, you must register your car with the Lakshadweep RTO. The previous RC book, however, has been replaced with a smart card, which is normally set by the dealer.
Permanent: Initially awarded for 15 years, then renewed in 5-year increments.
Temporary: Valid for one month only.
