Step 1: Applying for Registration

Submit the completed application form along with the necessary documents to any nearby RTO in Ladakh. One can get the application form from the RTO or can download it from the official website of Ladakh RTO (https://ladakh.nic.in/). 

Step 2: Inspection and Verification

The RTO will conduct a physical inspection of the vehicle to ensure that it meets the required standards and specifications. This may include checking the chassis number, engine number, and other relevant details.

Step 3: Payment of Fees

Pay the required registration fees as per the current rules and regulations. The fee structure may vary based on the type of vehicle, engine capacity, and other factors.

Step 4: Issuance of Vehicle Registration Number

Once the vehicle passes the inspection and verification process, the RTO will assign a registration number to your vehicle and issue a registration certificate (Form 23A). This certificate will contain the registration number, owner's details, and other relevant information.

Step 5: Fitment of High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP)

As per the latest guidelines, all new vehicles must have High-Security Registration Plates affixed. These plates are tamper-proof and help prevent vehicle theft and unauthorized duplication.

To apply for a driving licence in Ladakh, please follow the steps below:

• Go to the official website of the Ladakh Transport Department (https://ladakh.nic.in/service/license/).

• Download and fill out the application form. Upload all required documents online.

• The applicant will be given an application number, which must be presented during the driving test.

• Schedule a driving test slot and pay the application fees online.

• Visit the RTO office to take the driving test. The applicant will get their driving licence within 2-3 weeks if they pass the driving test.
