EPF Form 2

Every employee is required to nominate a member(s) to the EPF account under the Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme, 1952. In this way, in case of a member’s demise, the nominated individual(s) can withdraw from the funds accumulated in the EPF account. The employee is required to fill up and submit Form 2 to declare and nominate the same.

PF Form 2 Structure

The PF nomination form 2 has a total of four sections, viz. General Information, Part – A (EPF proceeds), Part– B (EPS Proceeds) (Para–18), and Certificate by the Employer.

General Information

EPF-Form-2

This section asks for the following details:

  • Name of the member
  • Father’s/Husband’s Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Marital Status
  • Account Number
  • Permanent & Temporary address
  • Date of Joining EPF and EPS Nomination

Part A (EPF Proceeds)

In this section, the EPF account holder has to provide information about the nominee by filling in the following details:

  • Name and address of the Nominee(s)
  • Nominee’s relationship with the member
  • Date of Birth
  • The total amount in Provident Funds to be paid to each nominee
  • In case the nominee is a minor, the name and address of the guardian who may receive the amount during the minority of the nominee
  • Signature or thumb impression of the subscriber

Part B (EPS Proceeds) (Para 18)

EPF-Form-2-Para-18-2The EPS account, short for the Employees’ Pension Scheme, has a total share of 8.33% out of 12% of the employer’s contribution to EPF. The EPS proceeds of a member’s PF account are also given to eligible nominees. In this section, you need to provide details of the family member(s) eligible to receive the pension.

The member has to mention the following details in this section-

  • Name of the family member
  • Address of the family member
  • Date of Birth
  • Relationship with the member
  • Signature or thumb impression of the subscriber

In case of nomination for monthly widow pension (admissible under Para 16 2(a) (i) and (ii)), the member has to give detail such as-

  • Name and address of the nominee
  • Date of Birth
  • Relationship with member

Certificate by the Employer

  • Name of the employee
  • Authorized officer’s Signature
  • Designation of the officer
  • Date
  • Place
  • Name and Address of the organization and Stamp

Guidelines to Nominate Family Members Via EPF Form 2 

A married employee with his/her parents and those who are dependent on the employee or without parents are permitted to nominate one or more members of his/her family.

An employee must consider the below-mentioned points while opting for nominating the family members via EPF Form 2-

  • In Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme

Following is the definition of family in Employee’s Provident Fund Scheme-

- If it is a Male Employee, he can fill out a nomination for-

  • Wife
  • Dependent parents
  • Children
  • Widow of son and children

- If it is a Female Employee, she can fill out a nomination for-

  • Husband
  • Dependent parents
  • Children
  • Husband’s dependent parents
  • Widow of son and children
  • In Employee’s Pension Scheme

Following is the definition of family in Employee’s Pension Scheme-

  • Spouse of the employee
  • Minor son and unmarried daughter of an employee
  • Adopted son/daughter (who was adopted before the death of an employee)

How to Fill e-Nomination?

A member who has a registered UAN at the unified EPF Member Portal can fill his e-Nomination online. In case you have not registered at the EPF member portal, you will have to first activate your UAN and then follow these simple steps for e-Nomination: 

  • Login to the EPF member portal with the required credentials
  • On the top left-hand side, Select the “e-Nomination” option from the “Manage” section

  • Provide your Permanent Address and Current Address in your profile and click on save
  • Select whether you have a family or not.
  • Enter important details of your family members such as Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, gender, relation, address, guardian (in case of minors), and click on “Save Family Details”. Select the “Add Row” option in case you want to add more nominees
  • Now you can select the nominees from the list and enter the total amount of share. Next, click on “Save EPF Nomination form”
  • Your nomination details will be saved and the nominees will get the fund in the proportion mentioned by you in the form.

Follow the same steps for the EPS section for availing benefits of the pension scheme.

How to File Nomination Offline?

The EPF Form 2 needs to file the nomination details in form No.2, after which they need to submit the application form to the employer.

When nomination form 2 has been filed, the nomination details will be updated in the EPF account. The nominee will get the fund in the proportion that is mentioned in form 2. 

Things to Remember if you are Nominating Family Members 

  • The member can change his/her nomination whenever he/she wants to
  • The nomination should be made in the favor of one or more members (s) of the family.
  • If the member has no family, he or she is free to nominate anyone.
  • There can be more than one family member as a nominee. In that case, a defined percentage of the amount to be received by each should be mentioned.
  • Minimum 10 years of eligible service will enable the employee to avail of pension.
  • If the employee has family members, he/she cannot nominate anybody out of the family.

Documents Required

There are no extra documents required to complete the nomination via EPF Form 2.
