PAN Card Form 49AA

PAN Card Form 49AA is a necessary application form used by a foreign resident or even by the non-individual companies established outside of India. This form requests the applicant’s KYC information. It must be completed by a Foreign Institutional Investor or a Qualified Foreign Investor as per the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s regulations (SEBI).

Structure of Form 49AA PAN Card

PAN Card Forms 49AA and 49A have very similar structures. Individuals filling out Form 49AA must give the basic information necessary for the KYC procedure. Below are the important components of Form 49AA that the applicant must fill out.

  • Full name: Here, the applicant should mention their marital status, first name, and surname.
  • Abbreviation of the name: The applicant must provide an abbreviation for their name. This abbreviation will then be displayed on the PAN card.
  • Other names: The applicant can also mention the details of any other name they have apart from the one already mentioned.
  • Gender
  • Date of birth: Here, the applicant has to mention their date of birth, and in the case of organisations, they have to mention the date of partnership/incorporation/Agreement or Trust deed.
  • Father's name
  • Assessing Officer code- In this section, the applicant has to mention the details of the Assessing Officer code, such as the Area code of the accounts office, Accounts office type, Range code and Accounts office number.
  • Residence Address and Office Address
  • Address of communication
  • Telephone number and email id
  • Status of applicant: Here, one has to mention if they are an individual, a HUF member, Company, a Partnership firm, etc.
  • The registration number for companies, firms, LLPs, etc.
  • Citizenship
  • Representative of the applicant in India: It should include the details of the representative or the agent, including their address and full name.
  • Documents submitted:  It should mention all the documents submitted with the form.
  • KYC details: This section needs to be filled by a Qualified Foreign Investor as prescribed by the regulations under SEBI. This includes details such as marital status, occupation details, citizenship status and more.

How to Fill PAN Card Form 49 AA?

While filling out Form 49AA for a PAN card, an individual or corporation must follow specific rules. Though filling out a form may appear simple, several regulations must be followed to prevent rejection of your application. 

Some of the most important guidelines to remember when filling out Form 49AA are listed below.

  • Basics Rules of PAN Card Form 49AA Online Application – The candidate must fill the form in English. It should be written in block letters, and each box should contain only one character. The applicant should also use black ink to fill out the form; it is preferable to use ballpoint pens rather than liquid ink pens.
  • Thumb imprint and signature on photographs- The applicant must submit a signature or left-hand thumb impression on the photograph attached to the top left corner of the form. The applicant should sign or leave a thumb impression that can be seen on both the image and the form.
  • AO code information- The AO code details, such as Area Code, AO Type, Range Code, and AO number, should be filled out by the applicant exclusively. The details may be obtained from the Income Tax office or one of the PAN Card centres.
  • Accuracy of the information provided- It is essential to give accurate information while filling out the form. Giving inaccurate or erroneous information can lead to the rejection of the PAN application.
  • Contact information- Since the applicant is a foreign resident, they must also provide the ISD code for their phone number along with the country’s name and Zip code.
