This service is beneficial to people who have a valid Aadhaar number but do not have PAN. This is a significant step towards digitalization.
Your PAN also serves as your unique identifier for all your bank accounts, credit cards, and financial transactions. A PAN contributes to tax transparency and the prevention of tax evasion.
The linking of your PAN to your Aadhaar number and bank accounts aids in the prevention of financial crimes. In recent years, financial crimes such as credit card fraud, identity theft, and money laundering have increased. A PAN aids in the prevention of these crimes. The government has made this service available to residents at no cost to make it easier for individuals to obtain a PAN quickly.
The new option allows those with a valid Aadhaar card to be issued an instant PAN. Unlike in most circumstances, candidates will not be needed to submit a complete application form. There will be no additional expenses for the quick PAN Card in PDF format.
The PDF includes a QR code with demographic information such as the applicant's name, date of birth, and photos. The e-PAN can be downloaded from the income tax e-filing portal using the 15-digit acknowledgement number. Your registered email address will also receive a soft copy of the e-PAN.
You can apply for an e-PAN on the NSDL and UTITSL websites, although there may be a cost. On the other hand, the e-PAN can be obtained for free through the income tax e-filing portal. When you apply for a PAN using this technique, your Aadhaar number is automatically linked to your PAN.
The Instant PAN service can be availed by all individual taxpayers who have not been allotted a PAN but have an Aadhaar Card.
To use the 'Instant PAN using Aadhaar' service, the applicant must first complete the following steps:
Step 1: Navigate to https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home.
Step 2: On the left-hand side, under Quick Links, click the 'Instant PAN through Aadhaar' icon.
Step 3: Select the 'Get New PAN' option.
Step 4: Input your Aadhaar number.
Step 5: Fill out the Captcha.
Step 6: Select 'I Confirm that' (please notice that by selecting this option, you confirm the points mentioned therein).
Step 7: Select the 'Generate Aadhaar OTP' option. A One-Time Password will be provided to the registered mobile number after selecting the 'Generate Aadhaar OTP' button.
Step 8: Enter the received OTP.
Step 9: Verify the Aadhaar information.
When the details are successfully submitted, an acknowledgement number will be generated and sent to the registered phone and email addresses.
You can download your e-PAN after receiving a confirmation notice that a PAN number has been assigned. Here's how you do it:
Step 1: To obtain a PAN, please visit the Income-tax Department's e-Filing website (www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in)
Step 2: Go to the 'Instant PAN using Aadhaar' link.
Step 3: Select the 'Check Status of PAN' link.
Step 4: Enter your Aadhaar number in the area provided, followed by the OTP delivered to your Aadhaar registered mobile number.
Step 5: Determine whether the PAN has been assigned or not.
Step 6: If PAN has been assigned, click the download link to obtain a copy of the e-PAN pdf.
