State Bank of India allows its customers to block SBI ATM cards instantly. This feature is implemented to avoid debit card fraud in the event of loss or theft. SBI has several methods for ATM card block, such as online banking, SMS, toll-free numbers, and mobile banking.

Methods for SBI ATM Card Block

There are several ways to block the SBI ATM card or debit card, and they are:

  • SBI debit card block through Internet Banking
  • SBI ATM card block through SMS
  • State Bank of India debit card block through mobile banking
  • State Bank debit card block using SBI atm block toll-free number

1) SBI Debit Card Block through Internet Banking

State Bank cardholders can use their net banking account to block their State Bank ATM card. They need to complete the following steps to block SBI atm card:

Step 1: Go to the official website of SBI.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Login’ option and select the ‘Net Banking’ option. 

Step 3: To log in, account holders must enter their user ID and password and then click the "Sign in" option.

Step 4: After successfully logging in, select the "Request" option.

Step 5: On the next screen, click the "Debit Card Hotlisting" button.

Step 6: To block the State Bank ATM Card, select the specific debit card and click the "Hotlist" option.

Step 7: Click on the "Confirm" button.

Step 8: Enter the transaction password and press the "Submit" button.

After entering the transaction password, the bank will accept the request to block the debit card and issue the account holder with a reference number.

2) Block SBI Debit Card through SMS

One can also block their State Bank debit card or ATM card by sending an SMS to the SBI ATM block number. Below is the step that must be followed:

Type a message in this format- “Block<space>last 4-digit of card number” and send it to 567676 using your registered phone number

3) Block SBI Debit Card through SBI Mobile Banking

State Bank of India account holders can also block their cards in the steps that are mentioned below:

  • You need to log in to SBI's mobile banking app on Android and iOS. 
  • On the mobile banking application's home screen - choose the services option.
  • Under the services option - you need to choose the debit card hot listing option to block the SBI ATM card in minutes.
  • On the following page - the account holder needs to choose the debit account linked with the ATM card they want to block.
  • On the following menu, the account holder would be asked to choose the debit card that they wish to block through mobile banking.
  • The account holder will be asked to select the cause for blocking the card, and the holder can only choose two options - lost or stolen.
  • To validate the card block, the account holder must provide the OTP. After providing this - the card would be blocked.

4) SBI ATM Card Block through Toll-Free Number

One can dial the SBI ATM block toll-free number in order to block their debit card or ATM card in case it has been lost or stolen. One must dial the number provided below from their registered mobile number:

  • 1800-11-2211

  • 1800-425-3800
