Ayushman Bharat program is a prominent initiative of the government of India, created in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the 2017 National Health Policy. Its overall objective is to acknowledge the aims of Universal Health Coverage (UHC), aligning itself with the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

At its core, this initiative was created to meet the fundamental goal of ensuring that no one is excluded, as described in the commitment to "leave no one behind."

What is Ayushman Bharat Yojana

Ayushman Bharat represents a shift away from a sector-specific approach to healthcare service delivery towards a wider, demand-driven healthcare system.

Launched by the Government of India in September 2018, this initiative seeks to introduce creative measures related to the healthcare system as a whole. Its primary objective is to deliver financial security and high-quality healthcare services to economically weaker sections of the Indian population. This includes introducing different medical and outpatient care at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.

Ayushman Bharat adopts a smooth sequence of care strategies, which include two connected components:

  1. Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY)
  2. Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs)

Who is the Ayushman Bharat Yojana Intended For

The Ayushman Bharat Scheme is primarily aimed at:
