VEON Ltd. is a global telecommunications services business based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Its services are mostly provided throughout Asia, Africa, and Europe. It is the world's 13th largest mobile network provider in terms of customer base. Russia accounts for more than half of the company's income. Among VEON's brands are Beeline, Kyivstar, Djezzy, Jazz Pakistan, and Banglalink. PJSC Russian VimpelCom was formed in 1992 in Moscow by Russian Dmitry Zimin and American Augie K. Fabela II to pioneer a new approach in the Russian mobile sector - the company was one of Russia's first mobile carriers. Augie Fabela, a young American entrepreneur, and Zimin, a Russian scientist in his fifties, co-founded the Beeline brand in 1993. Its name is derived from the Russian word for pennon. PJSC VimpelCom, the leader of the Moscow cellular market became the first Russian business to have its shares listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1996.;
