Federal Express Corporation is a multinational delivery services company with its headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee. The company started its operations in 1973 and currently serves over 200 countries and territories. It is acknowledged globally for its overnight shipping services. FedEx is the world’s largest shipping company that pioneered the system of tracking packages and providing real-time updates on their location. The company made its initial IPO on 12th April 1978 and traded each common share at $24.00. It began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on 28th December 1978, under the ticker sign ‘FDX’. FedEx Corp. stocks have split once, but the company has paid stock dividends on 4 occasions which manifests the same impact as a stock split. The fiscal year of this company begins on 1st June of each year and ends on 31st May. In 2018, the company earned the 50th spot in Fortune 500 list of United States’ Largest Corporations in terms of total revenue. In 2013, the company made it to Fortune Magazine’s list of Top 100 Companies To Work For. FedEx is also among the top 100 contractors of the United States government. FedEx Corp is divided into 7 operational units, namely - FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Office, FedEx Freight, FedEx Same Day City, FedEx Custom Critical and FedEx SmartPost. FedEx Corp. offers a vast network of transportation, e-commerce and business-oriented services. FedEx Services segment offers an array of such services including sales, marketing, billing and collection-oriented services, customer service, information technology, communications and technical support, among others. The FedEx Express segment is responsible for delivering over 6 million shipments and an estimated 27 million pounds of freight on business days. In 1997, FedEx Corp. transformed into a holding company named FDX Corporation, and it began its operations by acquiring Caliber System Inc. The company’s most recent acquisitions include that of the International Express business of Flying Cargo Group based in Israel in 2019. Also, in 2018 the company acquired the Manton Air-Sea Pty Ltd, which is a leading name in the logistics sector in Australia.;
