The company has an employee base of more than 40,000 individuals working across its operations globally. The company has operations located in over 50 countries such as Ireland, Egypt, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Poland, Canada, Greece, Korea, Norway, Vietnam, the United States, Finland, the United Arab Emirates, India, Chile, Kuwait, Colombia, Qatar, Portugal, etc. It offers assistance under three segments, and these are Neurotechnology, Medical and Surgical Equipment and Orthopaedics. This company also offers more than 30 types of medical and surgical products such as surgical suction, pre-op prep, support surface, sterile processing, emergency care data solutions, ENT, patient cleansing, image guided therapies, power tools, skin closure, etc. It also offers products and services for the spine, sports medicine, foot and ankle, upper extremities, craniomaxillofacial, trauma and joint replacements under orthopaedics. Stryker Corporation's origin dates back to 1941 when its predecessor, the Orthopedic Frame Company, was established by Dr Homer Stryker. Over the years, it has acquired numerous companies like Boston Scientific, Small Bone Innovations Inc., Novadaq, Surgical Dynamics Inc., Arthrogenx, Scopis GmbH, PlasmaSol Corporation, Osteonics, Arrinex, Cartiva Inc., SafeAir AG, IMASCAP, Invuity, Surpass Medical Inc., Mobius Imaging, Guided Technologies Inc., Memometal Technologies SA, Pivot Medical Inc., Sage Products, etc. The company adopted its current name in 1964 and made an IPO (initial public offering) in 1979. Further, the company entered the Standard & Poor’s 500 index in 2000, and as of 2021, its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol SYK. In 2002, it was recognised by Forbes in the Platinum 400 list for the first time. In 2020, it managed to acquire a position in five of Forbes’s lists, like the Best Employers for Women, World’s Best Employers, Global 2000, Best Employers for Diversity, and America’s Best Employers By State. The company entered the Fortune 500 list in 2002, and as of 2020, it is a part of seven of Fortune’s lists.
