Stryker Corporation's origin dates back to 1941 when its predecessor, the Orthopedic Frame Company, was established by Dr Homer Stryker. Over the years, it has acquired numerous companies like Boston Scientific, Small Bone Innovations Inc., Novadaq, Surgical Dynamics Inc., Arthrogenx, Scopis GmbH, PlasmaSol Corporation, Osteonics, Arrinex, Cartiva Inc., SafeAir AG, IMASCAP, Invuity, Surpass Medical Inc., Mobius Imaging, Guided Technologies Inc., Memometal Technologies SA, Pivot Medical Inc., Sage Products, etc. The company adopted its current name in 1964 and made an IPO (initial public offering) in 1979. Further, the company entered the Standard & Poor’s 500 index in 2000, and as of 2021, its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol SYK.
