Headquartered in Victor, New York, Constellation Brands, Inc. is involved in production, marketing and distribution of wine, beer and spirits. Constellation Brands, Inc. serves as the only brand in America to be involved in all three divisions of the beverage industry. More than 200 alcohol brands are included in this company’s profile. Constellation ranks as the largest wine company in the world as well as the largest multi-category supplier of beverage alcohol in the United States. Also, this company ranks as the largest importer of beer across the globe. In the year 1973, Constellation made its initial public offering. Constellation stocks are traded on New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ under the ticker symbol of ‘’STZ’’. Also, Constellation stocks are a component of the S&P 500 index. Constellation manages its operations through a number of segments. These include Beer, Wine and Spirits, Corporate Operations and Other, and Canopy. The Beer segment consists of import and craft beer brands including Corona, Modelo Especial, Negra Modelo, Pacifico and Funky Buddha (American craft beer producer). The Wine and Spirit segment includes selling a wide range of wine brands and types, such as table wine, dessert wine, sparkling wine, etc. Popular wine brands include Richard Wild Irish Rose, Robert Mondavi, Meiomi, Ravenswood Winery, The Prisoner, Clos du Bois, etc. The Corporate Operations and Other segment looks over costs of executive management, corporate development, corporate finance, internal audit, human resources, investors relation, information technology and legal and public relations. Further, the Canopy segment includes canopy equity method investments. Constellation began its journey in 1945 when Marvin Sands purchased a winery in Canandaigua in New York. It was incorporated in 1972 as Canandaigua Wine Company, Inc. In 1997, the company changed its name to Canandaigua Brands, Inc. and finally adopted the name of Constellation Brands, Inc. in 2000. As of 2020, the company holds an employee base of 7800. Since its inception, Constellation’s growth has been characterised by a number of acquisitions. The acquisition of Bisceglia Brothers Winery in Madera in 1974 by Constellation opened for it a large variety of wine markets in the western United States. In 1986, the company acquired Widmer’s Wine Cellars and the Manischewitz brands from the Monarch Wine Company. In the 1990s, Constellation expanded through diverse acquisitions, including Barton Inc. (a company that produces distilled spirits and importer of foreign beer) in 1993, Matthew Clark Plc in 1998 (producer and distributor of hard cider, wine and bottled water), etc. In 2003, the company acquired BRL Hardy Ltd. (the largest vineyard in Australia). In 2006, the company grew further with the acquisition of Canada’s largest wine company, Vincor International, for $1.44 billion. In 2015, Constellation purchased Ballast Point Brewing of San Diego at a price of $1 billion. In 2020, Constellation acquired Empathy Wines. Constellation Brands’ largest acquisition to date occurred in 2013 when it bought off Crown Imports at a price of $4.8 billion. Also, its largest revealed sale to date took place in the year 2019 when the company sold the Constellation Brands-Wine and Spirits Portfolio to E & J Gallo Winery for $1.1 billion. In 2020 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), Constellation was acknowledged as the Best Place to Work For LGBTQ Equality. Also, the company ranked on three different Forbes lists in 2020. These include the World’s Best Employers (Rank-656th), Best Employers For Women (Rank-300th), Global 2000 (Rank-928th).;
