About the Company

SVB Financial Group was started by Bill Biggerstaff and Robert Medearis in 1982. They first opened offices in Santa Clara, California, and the organisation provided loans and financial services to start-up companies in Silicon Valley. Apart from this, they also dealt with private equity and venture capital firms. The company is originally a holding company, providing banking services through these sections: SVB Private Banks, SVB Leerink, SVB Capital, Global Commercial Bank, and others. The SVB Leerink specialises in investment banking services for life-science and health care companies that are highly innovative. It also operates in sales and trading for growth and capital markets. SVB Capital handles capital Investments. SVB Private Bank provides a variety of financial solutions for consumers, and the Global Commercial Bank division takes charge of SVB Analytics, SVB wine, private equity division, and manages the commercial bank. It also offers debt fund investment services. The firm has many subsidiaries. Some of them are SVB India Advisors, Pvt. Ltd. (India), Silicon Valley Bank (California), SVB Analytics, Inc., SVB Global Financial, Inc., SVB Real Estate Investment Trust, SVB Strategic Investors Fund III, L.P., SVB India Finance Private Limited. SVB Financial Group stock (SIVB on the ticker) attained its all-time high price on 22nd January 2021, reaching $480. This parent company acquired Boston Private at $900 million in cash in 2021. The group also announced the purchase of WestRiver Group’s division of debt investment in 2020. It also recently invested in Mental Canvas in 2018 in the seed round. And in the same year, it also directly invested $3 million in Papaya at the seed funding round. Other organisations it had invested in include Techstars, Uberflip, Parity, and Vouch Insurance. SVB Financial Group came 842nd on Forbes’s Global 2000 in 2020, and in the same year, it was placed in the second position on America’s Best Banks 2020. At the Investor Allstars Award, Silicon Valley Bank won in the category of “Service Provider of the Year '' in 2013 for two years consecutively. It also bagged the 2012 Greenwich Associates Excellence Award in the category of International Service to mid-sized companies.;
