Roper Technologies, Inc. is an American diversified technology company. It was established in 1981 by George D. Roper. The company was formerly known as Roper Industries, Inc. and adopted its current name, Roper Technologies, in 2015. It is headquartered in Sarasota, Florida, United States. Roper Technologies shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol of ROP. ROP shares are included as a component of the S&P 500 stock market index. It also joined the Russell 1000 stock market index in 2004. The company designs and develops engineered products and software solutions. It offers both license as well as software-as-a-service (SaaS) to niche end markets. Roper Technologies conducts its business operation through several segments, namely Network Software & Systems, Measurement & Analytical, Process Technologies, and Application Software. Under its Network Software & Systems segment, ROP has several companies, namely SoftWriters, TransCore Foundry, iTradeNetwork, Inovonics, iPipeline, Loadlink Technologies, MHA, rf IDEAS, SHP, ConstructConnect, and DAT. Roper Technologies’ Measurement & Analytical business segment consists of Logitech, Uson, Verathon, Alpha, Dynisco, FMI, Hardy, IPA, Neptune, Northern Digital, Struers, CIVCO Medical Solutions, Hansen, and CIVCO Radiotherapy. Its business segment of Process Technologies owns Viatran, Zetec, Roper Pump, Cornell, FTI, Metrix, PAC, AMOT, and CCC. The Application Software segment comprises Sunquest, Vertafore, IntelliTrans, Horizon, PowerPlan, Strata, Aderant, Data Innovations, Deltek, CBORD as well as CliniSys. Roper Technologies serves a range of industries, such as healthcare, oil & gas, food markets, transportation, water meter technologies, as well as government contracting.
Over the years, ROP acquired several companies and expanded their business operations. It bought-off a total of four firms in 2015, namely SoftWriters Holdings, Aderant, CliniSys Group and RFIDeas. In 2016, the company acquired Deltek and ConstructConnect. Roper Technologies purchased PowerPlan in 2018 and Foundry in 2019. Forbes included the company in its 2018 rankings of World’s Most Innovative Companies as well as America’s Largest Public Companies. As of January 2021, ROP’s most recent merger took place in 2020 when it acquired Vertafore for a purchase price of $5.35 billion. It ranked 757th on Forbes’ list of Global 2000 2020 companies.
