Rollins, Inc. is an American enterprise engaged in consumer and commercial services. Its corporate roots can be traced back to 1964 when Rollins, Inc. bought Orkin Exterminating Company. Orkin offered pest control services and treated military establishments during the Second World War. This acquisition was worth $62 million and Rollins began its operations as a pest control company. In 1968, its shares started trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol of ROL. ROL shares are also included as a component in the S&P 500 index. Rollins corporate headquarters are in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
The company offers pest control services and protection against insects, rodents and termite damage around the globe. The company conducts its business operations through a number of subsidiaries, such as Orkin Pest Control, Clark Pest Control, Western Pest Services, HomeTeam Pest Defense, The Industrial Fumigant Company, Waltham Services, Critter Control, Perma Treat, Aardwolf Pestkare, Crane Pest Control, Northwest Exterminating, Adams Pest Control, OPC Pest Services, Orkin Australia, Murray Pest Control, TruTech Wildlife Service, Albany Environmental Services Ltd., and Safeguard Pest Control, among others. The company opened its first franchise in 1995. In 1999, it acquired PRISM, PCO Services, Inc. (PCO) as well as REDD Pest Control Company, Inc., and further expanded its business. That same year, it entered into a joint venture with Acurid Retail Services, L.L.C. to offer pest elimination services in the retail market. In 2000, ROL opened its first international franchise. The company acquired West Pest Services in 2004 and The Industrial Fumigant Company in 2005. In the subsequent years, Rollins made several acquisitions and purchased HomeTeam Pest Defense, Crane Pest Control, Waltham Service, and TruTech. In 2014, it purchased AllPest WA, Perma Treat as well as State Pest Management. The company bought-off Critter Control Inc. in 2015 and Safeguard Pest Control in 2016.
Forbes included Rollins in its 2016 rankings of Innovative Growth Companies. The company then bought-off Northwest Exterminating, Inc. in 2017. As of 2021, Rollins has operations in over 800 countries in North America, South America, Australia, Europe, Asia and Africa. It has more than 200 franchises worldwide and serves over 2.4 million residential and commercial customers.;
