About the Company

A bank holding company with headquarters in the Region Centre in Birmingham, Alabama, Regions Financial Corp was founded in 1971. This company is the largest holder of deposits in Alabama and Tennessee. It is also acclaimed as the largest deposit holder in companies including Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida. The company also provides commercial banking, trust, retail banking, stock brokerage, and mortgage services. A subsidiary of the company, Regions Bank, operates 1,952 automated teller machines and 1,454 branches in 16 states in the Southern and Midwestern United States. Regions Field is also sponsored by the company, a Minor League Baseball stadium in Birmingham, Alabama. This company was previously known to all as First Alabama Bancshares and was founded on July 13, 1971. Its establishment was led by a merger of three Alabama banks. These include Exchange Security Bank of Birmingham, Alabama, First National Bank of Montgomery, Alabama (which opened in 1872), and First National Bank of Huntsville, Alabama. In 1835, the First National Bank of Huntsville's headquarters was built, which is now a historic building. In 1986, certain changes were introduced to the Banking Bill, which allowed bank holding companies to acquire branches outside the state. First Alabama Bancshares began expanding its operations to Florida, and then continued into Georgia, Tennessee, and Arkansas. Its growth into a regional company, First Alabama Bancshares later renamed itself to Regions Financial Corporation in 1994. Also, the name of its banking subsidiary was changed to Regions Bank. The name "Regions" was actually bought-off from First Commercial Corporation. Regions added banking branches in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. Its various products include investment banking, asset management, mutual funds, securities, brokerage, insurance, and others. The company operated with the following segments, including Corporate Banks, Consumer Banks, and Wealth Management. The company ranked at 60th in the list of Just Companies 2021 and 641 in the Global 2000 list of 2020. The company was also ranked at 91 in America's Best Banks list in 2020. Regions Financial Corp shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol, "RF.";
