About the Company

Quanta Services is an American speciality contracting company. It offers infrastructure services to communications, electric power and pipeline industries. The company was founded in 1997 with its corporate headquarters in Houston, Texas, United States. In 1998, the company went public through an initial public offering. Its shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol of PWR. PWR shares are also a component of the S&P 500 stock market index. The company conducts its business operations through a number of segments, namely Electric Power, Communications, Pipeline and Industrial and Speciality. Quanta’s Electric Power segment offers construction and maintenance of transmission lines and substations. Its unit of Communications extends services like grid modernization, wireless and tower solutions, program management, and 5G deployment, among others. PWR’s Pipeline and Industrial business segment offers services across the pipeline and industrial sectors, which includes pipeline construction, gas distributions, tank services as well as midstream projects. The company’s Speciality segment entails storm response, aviation, energized services, distribution engineering, environmental services as well as research and development. Over the years, Quanta Services acquired several companies and expanded its business profile. It acquired a total of eight companies in 2000, including World Fiber Inc., Brown Engineering and Testing Inc., Kingston Contracting Inc., Network Communications Services Inc. and Arby Construction Inc. In 2007, PWR bought-off InfraSource Services, one of the largest speciality contractors in the United States at that time, in a major merger for a purchase price of $1.5 billion. It purchased Price Gregory Services for a transaction value of $96 million in 2009 and Valard Construction for $219 million in 2010. As of 2021, PWR’s latest acquisition took place in 2019 when it bought-off The Hallen Construction Co. in a transaction of $330 million. Alongside its operation in the United States, PWR also has global offices in Australia and the Philippines. It ranked 261st on the list of Fortune 500 companies. Forbes included Quanta services in its rankings of Global 2000 2020 companies, wherein it held the 1779th position.;
