The company was initially named Parker Appliance Company, and it is commonly referred to as Parker. As of 2020, it has more than 55,600 employees working across its locations worldwide. It has operations located in more than 40 countries such as India, Nigeria, China, Denmark, Brazil, France, Canada, Turkey, Spain, Japan, Egypt, Tunisia, Russia, United States, Malaysia, Peru, Morocco, Peru, Ghana, etc. The company has more than 65 divisions under it such as Hydraulic System Division, Cylinder Division, Pump & Motor Division, Fluid Control Division, Pan Am Division, Aftermarket AC and Refrigeration, Polymer Hose Division Europe, RAC Division, Chomerics Division, Precision Fluidics, Accumulator and Cooler Division, Electronic Controls Division, Exotic Metals Forming, Veriflo Division, Water Purification, Pneumatic Division, Gas Turbine Fuel Systems Division, etc. Through these divisions, it markets over 50 brands across the world. Some of these brands are Kittiwake, STC, brandTest, Daedal, Taiyo, Legris, Compumotor, Ermeto, Trilogy, Lucifer, Olaer, Calzoni, Airtek, Jet-Pipe, SprayCool, Bayside, Skinner, Helac, TexLoc, Chelsea, Sempress, PECO, Village Marine, SmogHog, Wilkerson, Zander, Pioneer, DustHog, etc. Arthur L. Parker founded the company in 1917 under the name Parker Appliance Company. At that time it produced products like pneumatic brake systems for trains, trucks and busses. It ventured into the field of aeroplanes in 1927 and provided aeroplane parts for Charles Lindbergh’s aircraft Spirit of St. Louis. Parker Appliance’s first significant acquisition was Hannifin in 1957, and by 1979 it had acquired about 40 more companies. The company has traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) since 1964 under “PH” as its ticker symbol. On 30th November 1985, it entered the S&P 500 list, and as of 2021, it remains a part of it. The company has acquired several companies such as Commercial Intertech Corporation, Clarcor, Kalamazoo, Naples, etc. Parker-Hannifin Corporation has been a part of the Fortune 500 list since 1966, and as of 2020, it is the 224th company in it. Forbes has also recognised it in two of its 2020 lists, namely America’s Best Employers by State and Global 2000.;
