An American multinational food, snack, and beverage corporation, PepsiCo Incorporation has its corporate headquarters in Harrison, New York. The company was formed in 1965 after Pepsi-Cola and Frito-Lay merged. The company has since expanded its range of products. Most of its products are sold to independent distributors and retailers. PepsiCo products are available in over 200 countries. The company was incorporated in Delaware in 1919 and in North Carolina in 1986. PepsiCo expanded its range of products with the acquisition of Tropicana Products in 1998, and the Quaker Oats Company in 2001.
Pepsi-Cola was first developed by Caleb Bradham, in Duplin, North Carolina. He was a businessman and pharmacist and coined the name “Pepsi-Cola” in 1898. Between the late 1970’s and mid 1999’s, this company began expanding via various acquisitions. It participated in mergers outside its core packaged food and beverage brands. The company previously acquired several brands which were sold later. These brands include KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, East Side Mario’s Hot ‘n Now, Chevy Fresh Mex, D’Angelo Sandwich Shops, Stolichnaya and California Pizza Kitchen.
In August 2009, this company acquired two largest bottlers of their products which include PepsiAmericas and Pepsi Bottling Group for $7 billion. The company made its largest acquisition by purchasing two-third stake in Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods. This is a Russian food company that produces yoghurt, milk, fruit juice and dairy products. PepsiCo also went on to acquire the remaining 23% stake in the company in October 2011. This acquisition allowed this company to become the largest food and beverage company in Russia. In May 2018, the company acquired the veggie and fruit company, Bare Foods. The company also announced that it entered an agreement with SodaStream in August 2018. In 2019, the company acquired the snacks brand, BFY Brands that was later incorporated into the Frito-Lay division. In May 2020, the company also entered into an agreement for acquisition with Rockstar Energy for $3.85 million.
