About the Company

News Corp is an American mass media and publishing company. The company’s headquarters are in New York City, United States. Its shares began trading on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange on July 1, 2013, through two classes of stock – NWSA and NWS. NWS shares are also included as a component on the S&P 500 stock market index. The company traces its corporate roots to News Corporation, a multinational mass media corporation. This company was one of the largest media groups and dominated television, news, film as well as print industries. In 2013, News Corporation split its assets into two publicly traded companies – 21st Century Fox and News Corp. As a result of this spin-off, News Corp was incorporated on June 28, 2013, in Delaware, United States. NWS sold-off the Dow Jones Local Media Group, one of its major holdings and the publisher of the Wall Street Journal, to Newcastle Investment Corp. in 2013. Subsequently, on December 20, 2013, the company made the first acquisition since its inception, and purchased Storyful for a purchase price of €18 million or $25 million. In 2014, it bought-off Torstar’s Harlequin Enterprises for $415 million, which later began operating as New Corp’s subsidiary, named HarperCollins. That same year, it also acquired Move, Inc., the owner of Realtor.com in a transaction of $950 million and made its first investment in India by acquiring a 25% stake in Elara, the owner of PropTiger.com, for $30 million. It bought off VCCircle in 2015, which included Techcircle.in, VCCircle.com, VCCircle Training, as well as VCCEdge, thereby expanding its business profile. Forbes recognised NWS as one of America’s Best Employers in 2017 and America’s Largest Public Companies in 2018. As of 2021, News Corp operates internationally through a number of subsidiaries, such as News UK, News Corp Australia, New York Post, Storyful, Move, Dow Jones, and HarperCollins Publishers. News Corp sealed the 318th spot on the list of Fortune 500 companies. Apart from that, News Corp also ranked 1737th on the Forbes’ list of Global 2000 2020 companies.;
