About the Company

Newell Brands is a multinational company engaged in the manufacture, marketing and distribution of commercial and consumer products. It was established in 1903 as Newell Manufacturing Company in New York, United States. The company changed its corporate name to Western Newell Manufacturing Company when it purchased Barnwell Mfg. Co in 1921. Another name change took place in 1999, and the company renamed itself to Newell Rubbermaid. It adopted its current name, Newell Brands, in 2016. Its shares trade on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol of NWL. NWL shares are also a component of the S&P 500 stock market index. Its headquarters are in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. NWL has a diverse range of products, which includes appliances and cookware, commercial solutions, food and storage containers, home and security equipment, stationery, outdoor and recreation products, home fragrances as well as baby care products. Some of its brands are Quickie, Reynolds, Parker, Bubba, Crock-Pot, Graco, Spontex, Exofficio, Mad Dog, Coleman, Ball & Kerr, WoodWick Stearns, Onelink, Sharpie, Campingaz and Invicta, among others. During the Second World War, Newell converted its factories to aid war efforts. This assistance earned it the Army/Navy ‘E’ award for excellence in wartime production. Over the years, NWL acquired several companies and expanded its product line. It bought-off Graco Children’s Products, Inc. and Rubbermaid in 1998 for a transaction value of $320 million and $5.8 billion, respectively. In 2000, NWL purchased the stationery product businesses of Gillette for $525 million and added Parker, Waterman pens and Paper Mate to its product portfolio. It acquired American Tool Companies in 2002, American Saw and Manufacturing Company in 2003 and DYMO in 2006. In 2008, Newell Brands bought-off Aprica Kassai, a Japanese company that produced children’s products, for an undisclosed sum. This trail of acquisitions continued in subsequent years, and NWL acquired Jarden Corporation for $16 billion in 2015. As of 2021, the company operates internationally in numerous countries, including Germany, Japan, India, Chile, Peru, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, China, France and Argentina, among others. It ranked 316 on the list of Fortune 500 companies. Newell Brands ranked 1833rd on Forbes’ list of Global 2000 2020 companies.;
