About the Company

Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, The Mosaic Company is the largest manufacturer and seller of concentrated phosphate and potash nutrients in America. This company employs more than 13,000 workers and operates in more than 5 different countries to fulfil the requirements of farmers worldwide. The Mosaic Company shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol “MOS”. MOS came into existence following a merger between IMC global, a fertiliser company, and Cargil Crop nutrition. It serves over 40 countries all over the world. Its wide customer base includes wholesalers and retail dealers. MOS’s operations are segregated into the following divisions: phosphates, potash, and mosaic fertilisers. The first division includes production units in Florida. These facilities are mainly engaged in the production of phosphate crop nutrients and animal feed ingredients, which are composed of phosphate. Moreover, the phosphate division also includes Louisiana-based processing plants that manufacture phosphate crop nutrients. The second division is involved in the manufacture of potash crop nutrients in Canada and America. Moreover, it also engages in the marketing of these nutrients in North America and various other countries all across the world. Mosaic has over 16 million tonnes of capacity for producing finished concentrated phosphate nutrients. The mosaic fertiliser division includes the operation of chemical plants, crop nutrient bagging and blending units, and mines. Moreover, it also operates multiple warehouses and port terminals in various countries, such as Brazil and Paraguay. These facilities are engaged in producing, marketing and distributing potash fertilisers and concentrated phosphate-based crop nutrients. In 2013, MOS produced more than 7.5 million tons of concentrated phosphate crop nutrients and over 15 million tons of phosphorite or phosphate rocks. Since its inception, MOS has acquired more than 5 companies. In 2014, it acquired the phosphate division of CF Industries, Inc. for approximately $1.2 billion in cash along with an additional $200 million to fund the company’s asset retirement obligation. It made its largest acquisition in 2016 when it completed the acquisition of Vale Fertilizantes SA for an estimated $2.58 billion. MOS featured in CR Magazine’s list of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 11 consecutive years. In 2020, it was named as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers. Moreover, in the same year, it was ranked 356th on the list of Fortune 500 companies.;
