Monster Beverage Corporation is a beverage company headquartered in Corona, California, United States. It manufactures, markets, and distributes packaged energy drinks under various brand names, such as Monster Energy, Full Throttle, Relentless, Mother, Predator Energy, Reign, Burn Energy Drink, Java Monster, and more. Hubert Hansen founded this company under the name Hansen’s and was engaged in the manufacture and sale of juice products. Three years later, its non-energy drink brands, including Hubert’s Lemonade, Peace Tea, and Blue-Sky Sodas, were sold off to Coca-Cola Company. Monster Beverage Corporation shares are traded on NASDAQ under the ticker symbol, “MNST”.
Soon after Hansen’s establishment, Hubert Hansen and his three sons started selling juice products to retailers and film studios in Southern California. During the 70s, the founder’s grandson, Tim Hansen, introduced a new line of soda and juice beverages under the “Hansen’s” brand name. Soon the company’s name became The Fresh Juice Company of California. On January 5, 2012, the name of the company was changed to Monster Beverage Corporation by the shareholders. In February 2016, MNST announced that it had reached an agreement to acquire American Fruits & Flavours (AFF). The transaction was worth approximately $690 million. Upon successful completion, Monster Beverages Corporation acquired an estimated $87 million worth of adjusted operating income.
MNST operates through three divisions: Monster Energy Drinks division, Strategic Brands division, and the Others division, which includes the products sold by American Fruit & Flavours LLC to independent third-party customers. The first division comprises of Monster Energy Drinks and Mutant Super Soda Drinks. Whereas, the Strategic Brands division includes the non-energy drink brands that are owned by the Coca-Cola Company. On December 1, 2016, MNST reached an important milestone when it became NASCAR’s third entitlement sponsor after it signed a multi-year contract. Presently, it sponsors individual drivers, like Kurt Busch, Riley Herbst, and more.
In 2017, Monster Energy drink was honoured as “The Brand of The Year” at the Cynopsis Sports Media Awards. In 2018, it was ranked 11th on Forbes’ list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies. Two years later, it ranked 1049th on Forbes’ Global 2000 list.;
