About the Company

LyondellBasell Industries is a multinational chemical company. In 2007, Basell Polyolefins acquired Lyondell Chemical Company for $12.7 billion, thereby forming LyondellBasell Industries. It is a Dutch-domiciled enterprise with British and American roots. The company’s corporate headquarters are located in Houston, Texas, United States, alongside offices in London, United Kingdom. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol of LYB. LYB got listed on the NYSE on October 14, 2010. LYB stocks are also included as a component in the S&P 500 stock market index. LyondellBasell Industries is one of the largest chemicals, plastics and refining companies in the world. It is also the world’s largest licensor of polyolefin technologies as well as the largest producer of polypropylene compounds. It also produces oxyfuels, ethylene and propylene. LYB has a diverse product portfolio, namely chemicals, fuels, polymers, advanced polymers as well as technology. Its technology centres are located in Cincinnati and Ohio in the United States, in Frankfurt, Germany as well as in Ferrara in Italy. These centres are dedicated to the research and development of products. The company has continued to grow and expand its business operations through a number of key acquisitions. Its first merger took place in 2004 when it purchased Millennium Chemicals, Inc. In 2008, LYB acquired Solvay Engineered Polymers, Inc., for an undisclosed amount. In 2016, LyondellBasell Industries bought off the polypropylene (PP) compounding assets of Zylog Plastalloys, one of India’s leading chemical companies, for an undisclosed sum. In 2018, LYB acquired A. Schulman, a leading global supplier of plastic compounds and composites, for a purchase price of $2.25 billion. LYB partnered with a French water and waste management company, Suez, in December 2017, marking the first joint venture between a leading plastic and chemical company and a resource management company. LYB announced a partnership with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in July 2018 to advance the chemical recycling of plastic materials. As of 2021, the company ranked 360th on the list of Fortune 500 companies. Forbes included LyondellBasell Industries in its list of Global 2000 2020 companies.;
