Lam Research Corporation is a global supplier of manufacturing equipment and is engaged in designing, manufacturing, marketing, and servicing semiconductor processors. This company was founded by David K. Lam in 1980 and is headquartered at the Silicon Valley in Fremont California. It has around 3,300 employees and caters to a global clientele based in the United States, Asia and Europe. Lam Research Corporation specializes in the invention and production of chip-making equipment in two distinct areas: etching machines and chemical mechanical polishing (CMP). This company patented the etching technology named, Transformer Coupled Plasma technology in 1992. Some of the noteworthy etch, and deposition techs launched by this company include Integrity CVD system, TCP 9400 polysilicon etching system, TCP 9600 metal etching system, etc. Deep reactive ion etch, wet clean/strip/etch, atomic layer etch, reactive ion etch, dry strip, mass metrology, and electrochemical deposition are among the several products that are offered by this company. It made its first public stock offering in 1984 and got listed on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol “LRCX”. This company made it to the Fortune 500 list for the first time in 2016. In 1987, Lam Research Corporation entered into a partnership agreement with Sumitomo Metal Industries Ltd. to aid the Rainbow etch product line in Japan. It formed the Lam Technology Centre, a fully-owned subsidiary, in 1991 to streamline the increased activities. In 1997, this company acquired OnTrak Systems Inc., which is a manufacturer of chip equipment. Later, in 2006, it also acquired Bullen Semiconductor, which was later renamed as Silfex Inc. Two years later, this company acquired SEZ AG in 2008. A $3.3 billion deal was completed in 2011 when Lam Research Corporation purchased Novellus System. This company also acquired the North Carolina-based firm Coventor, Inc. in 2017. In the same year, this company launched Lam Research Capital which is essentially a venture capital group for investing in companies. In 1988, LRCX bagged the VLSI Research Top Ten Award and had recorded 9 consecutive wins in the same category. Lam Research Corporation received the Intel Corporation's Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS) award in 2015 for providing excellent etch and deposition equipment to Intel. In 2018, this company won the Environmental Excellence Award for its energy-saving efforts.;
