The company offers its services to individuals, industry professionals and employers or organisations. For individuals, it has product lines under four segments. These are annuities & protected, long-term care planning, life insurance and employee benefits. It also offers individuals with assistance to plan their future financials and manage their retirement account. For employers or organisations, it provides retirement products and services along with employee benefits assistance. It also offers services under four segments for industrial professionals, namely employee benefits, employer retirement plans, insurance & annuities, and Lincoln Financial Network.
It was incorporated in 1905 when a group of business leaders from Fort Wayne joined hands to create an insurance company called The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. The company’s most significant acquisition was in 2006 when it took over Jefferson-Pilot Corporation, a Fortune 500 company. Following this, it took over Jefferson-Pilot’s radio and television division which has about 18 radio stations operating under it. The company also purchased Newton County Loan and Savings in January 2009 to restructure it as a bank holding company. Lincoln National Corporation is one of the oldest members of the Fortune 500 list and one of the 11 banks from 1905 that are still operating. Lincoln National Corp shares have been trading on the New York Stock Exchange since 1969 with “LNC” as its ticker symbol.
