This company owns 83,000 miles of pipelines that facilitate natural gas transportation across the country. They also operate through products pipelines, CO2 segment, terminals and Kinder Morgan treating plants. Approximately 40% of the natural gas consumed in the United States is transported via Kinder Morgan pipelines.
Kinder Morgan was founded in February 1997 by Richard D. Kinder and William V. Morgan. In its early phase, this company grew primarily based on acquisitions and purchasing assets such as refined petroleum pipelines, liquid terminals and other allied products. In 1999, Kinder Morgan took hold of KN Energy, a natural gas line company, which became the second traded company of Kinder Morgan under the title Kinder Morgan, Inc. During this time, the IPO approximately issued 110 million shares. KMI acquired the third publicly-traded company, El Paso Pipeline Partners L.P, in 2012. In 2014, this company acquired all shares of its three acquisitions and emerged as a single, publicly-held energy company.
This Fortune 500 company, Kinder Morgan, also possesses approximately 147 terminals that handle and store renewable fuels, vegetable oils, petroleum products, and chemicals. Kinder Morgan also provides a one-stop solution to keep liquid hydrocarbon and natural gas in its best form through their treating plant services.
