Gartner is an international research and advisory firm that provides tools, information and consultation to enterprises. The company was established in 1979 as Gartner Group, Inc. In the year 2000, the company simplified its name to Gartner. Its corporate headquarters is located in Stamford, Connecticut, United States. The company employs over 17000 associates. It boasts a client base of 14000 enterprises, as of January 2021. Gartner’s clientele includes companies from diverse industries, including Information Technology, human resources, communications, finance, marketing, sales, legal and compliance, education as well as customer service and support. Its offerings include Gartner Magic Quadrant, Gartner Ignition Guide, and Gartner TalentNeuron. Gartner Ignition Guide helps enterprises streamline initiatives and enable team-based executions. TalentNeuron is used for managing workforce and planning recruitments. The company’s shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol of IT. IT shares are a component of the S&P 500 stock market index. Over the years, Gartner acquired several companies and expanded their business operations. In 2005, it purchased META Group, a leading provider of advisory services, IT research and strategic consultancy, for $162 million. The company acquired two companies in 2009 – Burton Group, Inc. and AMR Research Inc., for $56 million and $64 million, respectively. In 2014, IT purchased Software Advice in a transaction valued at approximately $150 million. The company acquired Nubera and Capterra in 2015 for undisclosed amounts. This chain of mergers continued in 2016 when IT bought-off Machina Research and SCM World. As of January 2021, its latest acquisitions took place in 2017 when the company purchased L2 and CEB. The company has an international presence in over 100 countries, including France, Sweden. Spain, Italy, Russia, Czech Republic, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Canada, India, Turkey, Qatar, Taiwan, Australia, South Korea, UAE, Israel, and South Africa, among others. The company secured the 7th position in America’s Best Midsize Employers 2017. In 2019, Forbes included Gartner in its lists of America’s Best Employers and America’s Best Employers By State. The company ranked 190th in the Best Employers for Diversity list and was also placed in the Best Management Consulting Firms list by Forbes in 2020.;
