It emerged as a single worldwide agency catering to both national and international needs of its clientele. Over the years, IPG has undergone several mergers and acquisitions to create the hold that it has now in the market. Its first significant acquisition was Deutsch Inc., the last and largest independent agency of that time. In 2001, it acquired the holdings company for Foote Cone & Belding, called True North Communications. Two other significant companies acquired by it are Stickyeyes and Axiom’s Marketing Solutions Business. The company traded in the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol IPG and as of 2020 is an S&P 500 component. In 2020, it secured a position in both Fortune 500 and Forbes Global 2000 lists.;
