About the Company

Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, International Paper Company is the largest pulp and paper company in the world. As of 2020, it has over 56000 employees, and its operations are spread across the globe. Its products are offered to approximately 25,000 global clients based in more than 150 countries. International Paper Company was formed on 31st January 1898 as a result of a merger between 17 pulp and paper mills in the north-eastern region of the United States. It started to acquire companies since 1986, and as of 2000, it has managed to acquire seven significant companies. Some of these companies are Hammermill Paper Company, Union Camp Corporation, Champion International, Aussedat Rey, Federal Paper Board, etc. In 2012 the company made another substantial acquisition and took over Temple-Inland, a company with 59 converting facilities and 7 mills. The company offers products like - cellulose fibres, papers, containerboard, commercial recycling, corrugated packaging, coated paperboard, recycled containerboard, etc. It also provides solutions for most paper and packaging-related issues. As of 2019, it holds over 2,000 patents and is one of the market leaders in its respective field. It does industrial packaging for e-commerce businesses, fruits and vegetables, durable/non-durable goods, processed food and beverage segments and distribution. The company also produces paper for printer and copy paper, bills and statements, advertising, labelling, filling, envelopes, etc. Among these, the majority of its revenue is generated through its industrial packaging business. This company trades in the New York Stock exchange under IP as its ticker symbol, and it is also an S&P 500 component. In 2020, it made into prestigious lists like Fortune 500, Fortune World’s Most Admired Companies, Forbes Global 2000 and Forbes Best Employers For Women. Over the years, International Paper Company has been recognised for its excellence in paper products and impeccable corporate responsibilities. In just 2020 it has been recognised in lists like Wall Street Journals’s 100 most Sustainably Managed Companies in the World, Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies, Insider Pro and Computerworld 100 Best Places to Work in IT, etc.;
